These are photos of a recent project of ours which involved a major repair to a masonry basement foundation that had sustained considerable damage due to the increasing lateral forces over time. We first eliminated the pressure on the foundation which allowed us to remove the portions of the foundation that had been damaged. As we made repairs we also filled the hollow block with concrete and #6 rebar. We also added (2) egress windows for safety and to provide additional day light into the basement area. Once the masonry work was complete we installed the Fortress Stabilization System’s Carbon Fiber / Kevlar straps with Anchors and Neck Ties to achieve maximum strength. The new technology is stronger than steel and only 1/4″ thick when installed directly on the masonry wall. Steel beams require 5″ to 6″ of space and thus dramatically reduce the space available for a finished basement.
